Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr, has announced that she is cancer-free following her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Trump, 48, who has five children with President Donald Trump’s eldest son, shared in a short video on her 19-year-old daughter Kai’s Instagram account that her recent tests results “came back clear, so I’m finally cancer-free”.

The video, posted on Friday, teases the release of a longer YouTube video to come on Saturday, in which Vanessa and Kai Trump will discuss breast cancer awareness and prevention, Kai wrote in the caption.

Vanessa Trump separated from Trump Jr in 2018 and announced last year that she had begun dating US pro golfer Tiger Woods.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about early detection, education, and support for those affected by breast cancer,” Kai Trump wrote on Instagram.

“I sat down with my mom and Dr. Nicole Saphier to talk about my mom’s journey with breast cancer and learn more about prevention and early detection,” she continued.

Kai’s post received over 20,000 likes and hundreds of comments from people offering support and well wishes, including from American singer and media personality Mary Millben.

In Friday’s video, Trump said she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in April. She publicly announced the diagnosis in May, saying in a social media post that she had undergone surgery and was working on a treatment plan with her medical team.

According to the American Cancer Society, the average risk of a woman in the US developing breast cancer is about 1 in 8, or 13%. The disease also accounts for 30% of all new female cancers every year, according to the group.

Surgery cures most breast cancers, but if some disease remains, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and endocrine therapy can reduce the long-term risk.

Treatments have been advancing, including more targeted therapies for early breast cancer, new types of hormonal therapies, and more precise and effective radiotherapy.
