Already thinking about planning your vacation days for next year? Here’s a list of all the national and regional holidays in Spain in 2027 and how you can maximise your annual leave to get as many long weekends as possible.
The 2027 work calendar was recently published in Spain’s Official State Gazette (BOE), which includes both national and regional holidays.
In total, everyone in Spain gets 14 days of public, regional and local holidays in 2027.
Nine of these will be public holidays in all regions, three days are regional holidays which vary depending on the autonomous community you live in, and two are local holidays chosen by the municipalities.

The nine national holidays all Spanish regions will have in 2027 are:
Friday January 1st: New Year’s Day
Wednesday January 6th: Epiphany or Three Kings’ Day
Friday March 26th: Good Friday
Saturday May 1st: Labour Day
Tuesday October 12th: National Spain Day
Monday November 1st: All Saints’ Day
Monday December 6th: Constitution Day
Wednesday December 8th: Immaculate Conception
Saturday December 25th: Christmas Day
Unfortunately, out of the usual major holidays, Labour Day (May 1st), the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (August 15th) and Christmas Day all fall on weekend days next year so if you don’t usually work on those days anyway, it may not make much difference to you, unless your region has decided to move the holiday to a week day. More on that below.
The long weekends to look forward to in every region of Spain in 2027
The year will begin with a public holiday on a Friday January 1st, which means it will start with a long weekend.
The next long weekend can be enjoyed during Easter in March as Good Friday falls on Friday March 26th.
Then November 1st (All Saints’ Day) and December 6th (Constitution Day) will both fall on a Monday, creating long weekends on both dates.
You could also have more long weekends – or as Spaniards call them, puentes – depending on regional holidays.
How else can you make the most of Spain’s public holidays in 2027?
Three Kings’ Day on January 6th falls on a Wednesday next year so you could take off Monday the 4th and Tuesday the 5th to enjoy several days holiday right at the beginning of the year.
Spain’s National Day on October 12th falls on a Tuesday, so taking Monday the 11th off will allow you to enjoy four consecutive days, from Saturday the 9th to Tuesday the 12th, using only one vacation day.
In December, there is the opportunity for even more time off. Constitution Day falls on Monday December 6th, and the Immaculate Conception is on Wednesday December 8th. Therefore, you could book off Tuesday December 7th and get a total of five days holiday from Saturday December 4th to Wednesday December 8th.
How about the regional holidays that can be turned into long weekends?
First, we’ll offer a breakdown of the main regional holidays that can be turned into long weekends in several regions, and further down we cover all other regional holidays.
Thursday March 25th: All regions will take off Maundy Thursday, except for Catalonia and Valencia. As the next day is Good Friday, a public holiday across Spain, most people in Spain will get to enjoy a four-day weekend.
Monday August 16th: Six regions have chosen to celebrate the day after the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (August 15th, which is usually a public holiday across all regions) and move the holiday to Monday August 16th. These include Andalusia, Aragón, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León and Madrid. Workers in these regions will enjoy a mid-summer long weekend.
Friday March 19th: Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarre and Valencia will all have the day off for San José or Saint Joseph’s Day, allowing for a three-day weekend. This is also Father’s Day in Spain.
