Music funding platform beatBread has appointed Andreea Gleeson as its Chief Executive Officer.

Gleeson was previously CEO of Believe-owned distribution platform TuneCore, a role she left in January this year.

The appointment was announced on Thursday (September 10).

Gleeson succeeds Tracy Maddux, who has run beatBread on an interim basis since November 2025.

Maddux took the role after the death of beatBread co-founder and CEO Peter Sinclair in August 2025.

Maddux, who was named a long-term advisor to beatBread‘s board in November 2025, will continue to support the company through the transition. He and Gleeson have both been appointed directors.

“What drew me to beatBread is that Peter and this team solved a real problem for independent artists: how to access growth capital without giving up ownership or control,” said Gleeson. “They’ve built sophisticated technology and a funding model that consistently gives artists more choice.

“I’ve spent much of my career focused on what independent artists will need next, and access to better capital on artist-friendly terms is one of the most important opportunities ahead. I’m excited to work with this team to bring better funding solutions to more artists and independent music businesses around the world.”

Launched in 2020, beatBread says it has provided more than USD $100 million in advances to over 2,000 artists and labels in 42 countries.

Music covered by those advances has generated 111 billion all-time streams, according to the company.

beatBread raised USD $124 million in credit and equity capital in August 2025 from investors including Citi, Deciens Capital, Mucker Capital, and Advantage Capital, alongside lending partners such as GMO.

The company prices and structures its funding offers using proprietary underwriting technology called chordCashAI.

“Our priority over the course of the past year has been preserving the momentum that Peter Sinclair built, and positioning the company for long-term success,” said Maddux, beatBread‘s outgoing Interim CEO. “Andreea brings a rare combination of deep artist credibility, operational excellence and global scaling experience, and she is exactly the right leader to take beatBread to the next level in its growth journey.”

According to beatBread, Gleeson‘s early priorities include expanding the company outside the United States, deepening its distributor and label partnerships, and building on its underwriting capabilities.

“beatBread has proven both its technology and its ability to fund artists well and at scale,” said Ishan Sachdev, General Partner at beatBread‘s lead investor Deciens Capital, and a member of the company’s board. “That foundation creates a significant opportunity to scale the business across a much larger global market. Andreea brings the operating experience and track record of building global businesses at the intersection of technology and music to capitalize on that opportunity.”

Gleeson joined TuneCore in 2015 and was promoted from Chief Revenue Officer to CEO in 2021.

Her tenure took TuneCore beyond distribution and into artist development, including the launch of TuneCore Accelerator, a marketing program for self-releasing artists.

TuneCore said in November 2025 that, across the platform as a whole, self-releasing artists had earned more than USD $5 billion since its launch in 2006.

Gleeson exited TuneCore on January 14, moving into a Strategic Advisor role at Believe.

She subsequently founded AGA (Andreea Gleeson Advisory), through which she has advised companies and investors across music, media, and technology.

Before moving into music, Gleeson worked in e-commerce at Hudson’s Bay Company and Lord & Taylor.Music Business Worldwide
