The former third-round pick won’t make it to Year 4.
The Cleveland Browns are releasing wide receiver Cedric Tillman, ESPN reported on Thursday morning. Cleveland selected Tillman with the No. 74 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Tennessee.
Last season (2025), Tillman totaled 21 receptions for 270 yards (12.9 yards per reception) and two touchdowns over 13 games. Over Tillman’s three years with the Browns, the 6-foot-3 receiver averaged 23.7 receptions for 277.7 yards (11.7 yards per reception) and 1.7 touchdowns per season.
Injuries have held back Tillman, as he missed three games in the 2023 regular season due to a hip injury, the last six games of 2024 due to a concussion — with Tillman also missing the Browns’ 2023 AFC wild-card round bout against the Houston Texans due to a concussion — and four games in 2025 due to a hamstring injury. Moreover, in Tillman’s final season at Tennessee (2022), he missed six games due to a high ankle sprain.
Cleveland’s wide receiver room includes Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond and top-40 draft picks KC Concepcion (pick No. 24 out of Texas A&M) and Denzel Boston (pick No. 39 out of Washington), among others.
Elsewhere concerning the Browns’ offense, head coach Todd Monken recently announced that Deshaun Watson will open the season as the team’s starting quarterback, beating out second-year signal-caller Shedeur Sanders for the job.
Cleveland wraps up its preseason at home against the New England Patriots on Thursday night and opens the 2026 regular season on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13.
