BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. A total of 74,200
tons of heavy fuel oil were produced in Azerbaijan from January
through July 2026.
This was announced in the report by the State Statistics
Committee.
According to the report, this figure rose by 17,600 tons, or
31.1%, compared to the same period of 2025.
As of August 1 this year, stocks of finished heavy fuel oil at
the warehouses of the country’s industrial enterprises stood at
5,100 tons.
During the reporting period, the total production value in
Azerbaijan’s petroleum products sector amounted to 3.46 billion
manat ($2.03 billion), down 4.9% compared to the first 7 months of
last year.
In an interview with Trend, Jihad Azour, director of the International
Monetary Fund’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, said
revenues generated by the energy sector should be managed
efficiently to strengthen long-term economic resilience.
According to Azour, effective management of revenues from the
oil and petroleum products sector is particularly important given
the high volatility in global energy markets.
“We live in an environment of highly volatile oil and gas
prices, and it is therefore important to plan ahead to avoid
excessive dependence on periods of peak prices,” Azour told
Trend.
