The price of stamps is set to increase
The cost of sending letters within Switzerland will go up from January 1st 2027, Swiss Post announced on Thursday.
Stamps for standard Priority (A-Mail) will rise by 20 centimes to 1.40 francs, while they will cost 10 centimes more (1.10) francs for Economy (B-Mail) letters.
Parcel prices will, however, remain unchanged until the end of 2029.
The last such price hike happened in 2024.
A kangaroo is hopping in Aargau – but no one knows where it came from
The canton of Aargau – or Switzerland in general, for that matter – is not exactly a natural stomping ground for kangaroos.
Nevertheless, one – at first mistaken by onlookers for a giant rabbit – somehow showed up at a summer camp in Dietwil; efforts to lure it with cucumbers were, however, unsuccessful, and the kangaroo hopped away.
Police and game wardens contacted various animal shelters in the area but nobody reported missing a kangaroo, so the mystery surrounding the wayward marsupial‘s origin is thickening.

Air Force on a special mission: to airlift water to thirsty cows
The Swiss Air Force is deployed this week to supply water to drought-ridden Alpine pastures in the Fribourg region.
Super Puma helicopters are flying to areas that are inaccessible by road.
Numerous cattle and other livestock are kept on the affected pastures during the summer months, and without an additional water supply, the situation for alpine farming could quickly become critical.
Water is essential not only for the animals but also for daily operations on the pastures, such as the production of alpine cheese.
Swiss will struggle to hit 2030 climate target
Switzerland will struggle to meet its 2030 climate target, environment minister Albert Rosti admitted Thursday, citing budget constraints.
The country has pledged to halve its 1990 greenhouse gas emission levels by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
“I don’t think we can say just yet that we will miss the 2050 target,” Rosti told Le Temps newspaper. “It stems from the will of the people and must be met.”
But he added: “The situation is more complicated for 2030.”
Of the three major greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide accounts for about 66 percent of the warming effect on the climate. (AFP)
