BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. Two oil tankers
struck mines and caught fire while attempting to transit the Strait
of Hormuz, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)
said.
According to the IRGC, the tankers were traveling along a mined
route south of the Strait of Hormuz, which the Iranian side claims
they had been directed to follow by the United States.
The IRGC Navy also said that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed
to maritime traffic due to what it described as a high level of
danger.
