US President Donald Trump declared on Sunday that the US has never been closer to India. India can count on him 100 per cent in his country.
Speaking via speakerphone held by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor at a reception in New Delhi celebrating 250 years of America, Trump said he was a big fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio were present at the event during the call.
“We have never been closer to India. India can count on me 100 per cent in my country. If they have any problem, they know where to call, they call right here,” Trump assured.
The US President underlined that his country’s economy was on track. “We are doing well. We are setting records. We have a record economy. A record stock market. Anything India wants to get..,” he said.
On Rubio’s ongoing India visit, Trump said he was one of the best and would represent the US well.
“I am a big big fan of PM Modi. Marco I know you are going to represent the US well. Let PM know I am a big fan,” Trump said.
