Artificial intelligence (AI) could increase Swiss GDP by up to 11 percent

This new technology has the potential to significantly accelerate Switzerland’s innovative capacity and make a substantial contribution to its economic growth.

This is the conclusion of a new study by Implement Consulting Group, commissioned by Google and digitalswitzerland and presented on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

According to the study, generative AI could increase Switzerland’s GDP)by up to 11 percent over the next 10 years. This corresponds to an additional annual value creation potential of around 80 to 85 billion francs.

Bern finally speaks out on US attempt to take over Greenland

Silent until now, the Swiss government finally made its position about Donald Trump’s threats to take control of Greenland known.

“Switzerland’s position is clear. In accordance with international law, Greenland belongs to Denmark and enjoys broad autonomy,” the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs said.

“Any change to this status requires the consent of both Denmark and Greenland. The rules of the UN Charter, such as the prohibition of the use of force and the prohibition of intervention, apply worldwide,” it added.

Zurich’s public transport system is now communicating in simplified language

Passengers with limited German language skills or reading difficulties should also be able to use public transport in the canton of Zurich.

That’s why a new section on the Zurich Transport Network’s (ZVV) website is now presenting the most important information for traveling by bus, train, tram, or boat in simplified language.

As a next step, the ZVV also plans to publish a short, printed brochure. This is intended to reach those who are not digitally literate.

The system enables streaming, cloud-based work and other data-intensive applications during the flight.

The service will be available free of charge to all status customers and Travel ID users across all travel classes.

Precise timing for the gradual implementation of this system is still being worked out, but is planned for the second half of 2026.

Jacques Moretti, co-owner of the Swiss bar which caught fire during New Year celebrations, “was not evasive” during 10 hours of questioning by prosecutors on Tuesday, a lawyer who was present said afterwards.

“I found him to be someone who did not shy away and who answered all the questions,” Jose Coret, who represents six victims and their families, told reporters. “I don’t know if what he said is true, if it’s accurate, but he answered all the questions.”

Moretti, 49, and his 39-year-old wife Jessica, who are both French, co-own Le Constellation, a bar in the ski resort of Crans-Montana, the establishment that caught fire early on January 1st, killing 40 people -mostly teenagers – and injuring 116 others. (AFP)
