Azerbaijan’s economy minister maps out successes in energy, transport, and tourism

He made the statement during the deliberation of the draft law
“On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026” at
today’s plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

According to the minister, the signing of agreements on the
creation of the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe and Central
Asia-Azerbaijan green energy corridors and the start of work in
this direction will further strengthen the role of our country as a
strategic energy hub, a reliable exporter of energy resources, and
a platform for the development of the green economy. – Azerbaijan,”
and the start of work in this direction will further strengthen the
role of our country, which is a strategic energy hub, as a reliable
exporter of energy resources and a platform for green
investments:

“Thanks to the improvement of the country’s existing
infrastructure on transport corridors in recent years and the
increase in the cargo capacity of the Alat Sea Trade Port, the
volume of transit cargo transportation (excluding pipeline
transportation) in 2024 increased 2.5 times compared to 2019,
reaching 14.5 million tons.”

Jabbarov added that the project, launched as part of a
public-private partnership, is of great importance in terms of
technology transfer.

”The $407 million Caspian Sea desalination project, launched as
part of a public-private partnership, is an important step in
ensuring the country’s water security, technology transfer, and
attracting foreign investment. Important steps are being taken to
revive the construction sector, which has played an important role
in generating GDP in recent years. The creation of the Sea Breeze
tourist zone and a modern urban development project covering
healthcare, trade, education, and the hospitality industry, signed
with Modon Holding from the United Arab Emirates, will contribute
not only to the growth of the construction sector, but also
stimulate the development of tourism and services,” he
concluded.
