Trump helped broker a Thailand-Cambodia ceasefire, signed a peace deal, and announced trade agreements amid ongoing border tensions and de-mining efforts.

Trump played a pivotal role in fostering diplomatic relations, emphasizing the importance of regional stability. His efforts not only mitigated rising tensions but also laid the groundwork for future economic cooperation and humanitarian initiatives in the region.

During his Asia tour, US President Donald Trump supported a truce between Thailand and Cambodia, promoting new trade deals following their border ceasefire agreement. The conflict earlier this summer resulted in over 40 deaths and displacements of 300,000 people.

Thais and Cambodians signed a joint declaration with Trump and ASEAN leaders, emphasizing peace, security, de-mining, weapon withdrawal, and ceasefire monitoring. Thailand also agreed to release 18 Cambodian soldiers detained for three months.

Post-agreement, the White House announced trade deals, including cooperation on rare earth minerals and tariff negotiations. While the ceasefire has largely held, tensions and territorial disputes continue to challenge lasting peace.
