Avenue Supermarts, which operates the DMart chain of hypermarkets, reported a 3.9 per cent in consolidated net profit in Q2 of FY26 and a 15.4 per cent rise in revenue, driven by sale of foods.
The company reported net profit of ₹685 crore on revenue of ₹16,676 crore.
Like-for-like growth, a key metric for retailers, saw a slowdown at 6.8 per cent, compared to 7.1 per cent in the first quarter, an indicator of subdued consumption sentiments.
The company said that following the reduction in GST rates on several items of consumption, it had passed on the benefit of the lower rates to all its customers.
Revenue from sales per retail business area fell to ₹8,692 per square feet in the quarter from ₹8,779 per square feet in the first quarter.
While EBITDA rose in absolute terms, its operating margin dipped to 7.3 per cent from 7.6 per cent year ago.
Its total retail business area was at 17.9 million square feet at the end of the quarter.
It added 8 new stores during the quarter, taking its total count to 432 at the end of September.
It added 10 new fulfilment centres in its existing markets and continued to invest and deepen its presence in the large metro cities. It said it ceased operations in 5 cities (Amrtisar, Belgavi, Bhilai, Chandigarh and Ghaziabad) during the quarter.
