Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that his government will introduce an Uber-like app for auto drivers to help them find customers easily.
“We will create an app for auto drivers so that they will get bookings, helping them avoid long waits at auto stands. We set up a control room and made opportunities available to you through the app,” he said.
Addressing a group of auto drivers after launching Auto Driverla Sevalo (in service of auto drivers) in Vijayawada on Saturday, he said the government distributed ₹436 crore to them.
Under the scheme, each eligible auto driver received a financial incentive of ₹15,000. Over 2.9 lakh auto drivers have been identified by the government for the scheme.
He said the Government would set up an ‘Auto Drivers Welfare Board’ and would bring in EV autos in phases.
