The Tourism Authority of Thailand launched the “Beauty Diving” initiative in Phuket to attract Chinese divers, promoting sustainable dive tourism and showcasing Thailand’s marine beauty and conservation efforts.
Launch of the “Beauty Diving” Initiative
On September 5, 2025, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) unveiled the “Beauty Diving” initiative in Phuket, aimed at the growing Chinese diving market. Held from September 4 to 6, it was a collaboration with the TAT Guangzhou Office, Scuba Schools International (SSI), and the Guangzhou Diving Association. The program highlighted Thailand’s Andaman Sea, known for its beauty and marine conservation, attracting over 150 Chinese divers. Activities included free diving, scuba diving, and a CSR project for ocean conservation.
Engaging Experiences for Divers
The event began with the “Amazing Thailand Beauty Diving Welcome Reception” at Dusit Thani Laguna Beach Resort, including a mermaid-themed photo booth, upcycling workshops, and cultural performances. These elements aimed to promote social media sharing and encourage return visits to Thailand. Guests also received souvenirs, enhancing their cultural and leisure experiences.
Impact on the Chinese Diving Market
Mr. Boonrapee Damrongrat, TAT Director, emphasized that China’s diving community presents an opportunity for Thailand to solidify its position as a premier dive destination. As Chinese divers increasingly combine diving with travel, staying 8-10 days and spending significantly, the initiative aligns with growing interests. With activities like mermaid diving gaining popularity, Thailand’s commitment to sustainable tourism is highlighted, linking cultural experiences and marine conservation.
